There are over 22.5 million confirmed COVID-19 cases globally, with over 790,000 fatalities, and more than 14.3 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.

Here is what we know:

As of Thursday, the Chinese mainland recorded 84,917 cases, with 353 asymptomatic patients under medical observation. The death toll stands at 4,716, including 75 fatalities from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and seven from the Taiwan region.

The Chinese mainland recorded 22 new cases on Thursday, all from overseas. This is the fifth consecutive day the Chinese mainland reported no new domestically transmitted cases.

The U.S. has seen over 5.5 million infections and more than 174,000 deaths – both numbers are the highest of any country in the world.

South Korea's coronavirus infections are back and spreading nationwide after members of a church attended a political demonstration, authorities said on Thursday.

World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Tuesday urged countries to prevent "vaccine nationalism." The organization earlier also expressed concerns that the novel coronavirus spread was being driven by people in their 20s, 30s and 40s, many of whom were unaware that they were infected.
